What We Do
Our Heritage Projects
We believe Annan’s history belongs to everyone…
Annan The History Town Group use Annan’s heritage to support a lively, welcoming and confident town through events, projects, partnerships and activities that are open to the whole community. We support projects that help people understand Annan’s history in accessible and engaging ways – discover more about these projects below.
Festivals & Events
Each year (usually around the summer time) we organise key historical events, often linked with Annan’s past.
Active Heritage Trail
We created the Annan Active Heritage Trail for people to explore the stories behind the familiar places in our town.
Spirit of the Annan
Spirit of the Annan has been one of its most ambitious and community-driven projects, bringing together heritage, traditional craft and local people to create a new landmark for Annan.
Jubilee Gardens
Jubilee Gardens, located on Port Street on the site of Annan’s former brewery, is being reshaped into a more welcoming, accessible and meaningful space for the community.
Community Engagement
We work with schools, community groups and partners on activities that encourage people of all ages to take part – collecting memories and photographs, joining guided walks, or helping to shape future heritage projects.
Supporting Economy
By highlighting Annan’s unique heritage, we aim to bring more visitors to the town. Our projects are designed to complement work of other local organisations, aiming to highlight Annan as an attractive place to live, work and visit.
Our Funding
The work of Annan The History Town Group is supported by grants, donations, sponsorship and partnership funding. Every contribution helps us to run events, create resources and deliver projects for the town of Annan and it’s community.
